Undergraduate Course Sequence

Our Suggestion

Trying to plan your undergraduate course sequence? See the tables below.

Note: This should not be used as a substitute for advising. It is also based on completing all the course work for the BA degree in 2 years, but you do not need to complete all the course work in 2 years. Most of the courses included in the tables below are currently offered once per academic year, in the quarters for which they appear below. PLAN 100, 201, and CSBS 320 are offered more than once per year, and can be taken in most quarters.

The PLAN 464 requirement can also be fulfilled by taking either GEOG 321 or GEOG 323, which are offered in most quarters. Students can also get credit for doing internships (PLAN 495) or independent studies (PLAN 499) which can count towards their total elective credits.

Please contact your advisor if you have any questions or concerns about planning your schedule.

Fall Quarter

Required Courses

First-Year Undergraduate Students

CourseCreditsTitle
PLAN-2015Introduction to Urban and Regional Planning
PLAN-4075Community Development
CSBS-3205Introductory Statistics for Social Sciences

NOTE: CSBS 320 is also a required class, but can usually be taken any quarter.

PLAN 201 will be offered, ideally, twice/year. 18 credits is the maximum students can take in a quarter, beyond which they are considered overloaded. Students should consult with their advisor about which of these courses should be taken in their first quarter as a declared major. In general, students should take the courses listed here that they have not already taken. If CSBS 320 or PLAN 201 have not already been taken, then they should be taken as soon as is feasible (they are not pre-requisites for other courses, so there is flexibility here).
