In celebration of our college graduates, we reached out to our seniors for a little highlight and feedback from their time at Eastern. Congratulations on getting your degree! And welcome to the Eagle Alumni Family! Go Eags!

Heide Tyvan

What is your major and minor/certificate, and what made you choose that major/minor?

I am graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication and double minoring in English Literature and Psychology. I chose my major because I wanted to pursue a career incorporating my two favorite hobbies: reading and writing.

What’s one class that wasn’t in your major that you’d recommend?

One class that was not in my major that I recommend is Introduction to Poetry because I was able to break away from the technical aspect of writing and participate in a more creative and interpretive writing style.

What is your plan after graduation?

After graduation, I will finish my internship at STCU over the summer. I hope to get a job as a Technical Writer or Copywriter where I can utilize the skills I gained during my education and internship experiences and begin my career!

If you made one rule every teacher had to follow, what would it be? Why?

If I made one rule every teacher had to follow, it would be incorporating a service-learning project in their courses. These projects provide such an amazing learning opportunity, and the results can be included in a resume and shown to possible employers as real-world experience.

What was your favorite place to eat on campus or in Cheney?

As a commuter, I did not eat in Cheney very often, but the few times I did, the Mason Jar was one of my go-to places.
