EWU Dental Hygiene Clinic, Preclinic and Lab Positions

Requirements: License to practice hygiene in WA state, kind demeanor and patience while assisting students, ability to take direction from department chair and lead dentist. Please submit resume and references when applying.

Clinic: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Shifts from 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.

Physical Demands:
Hygienists are required to stand under 1/3rd of the day; while sitting, and being mobile are required

1/3rd to 2/3rd of the time. They are required to use hands to finger, handle or feel over 2/3rd of the time, as well as reach with hands and arms. Climbing, kneeling or crouching occurs less than 1/3rd of the time; while balancing, stooping and crouching occur between 1/3rd and 2/3rd of the day. Job Description/Scope of Work:
Sanford Federal, Inc. is seeking an experienced and Board-Certified Dental Hygienist to join our healthcare team at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services and support in a dynamic healthcare environment. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the oral health of our patients while adhering to relevant regulations, certifications, and standards.
Responsibilities:
• Perform dental hygiene procedures including oral examinations, teeth cleanings, and preventive treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and provide personalized recommendations for oral care.
• Collaborate with dentists and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed for pain management during procedures.
• Document patient information accurately and maintain up-to-date and organized patient records.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations regarding occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, ensuring proper infection control procedures are followed.
• Comply with CDC guidelines and maintain all required certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from an American Heart Association (AHA) course.
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in dental hygiene techniques and technologies by participating in continuing education courses.
• Work collaboratively with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow and exceptional patient care.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of one year of specialized experience as a Dental Hygienist.
• Board Certification by the American Dental Association (ADA).
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from an AHA course.
