QuickBooks Certified User
Accounting firms are seeking qualified candidates proficient in Intuit QuickBooks. With technological advances, today’s accountants act as small business advisors and are required to make faster and better decisions from the readily available data. Students prepare for and take the Intuit QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU) Online certification exam in ACCT 323: Accounting Software and Certification. Students will develop their technological communication skills, understand how to develop new workplace documents using Intuit QuickBooks, and contain the knowledge to support both the firm’s and clients’ QuickBooks accounts.

Microsoft Office Specialist
The Professional Accounting department offers ACCT 425: Business Computer Applications for Accountants as an elective option to help students be successful in the accounting workplace.
Through active learning, this course provides business students with the opportunity to gain broadly applicable Microsoft Office application skills most frequently used in today’s accounting profession. Students develop and manipulate documents, worksheets, and presentations utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students demonstrate proficiency by taking the most current Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam for each application listed.
The Business and Marketing Education department offers a similar course, BUED 425: Workplace Communications Using Computer Applications. This course teaches electronic communications in Microsoft Office products while preparing students to take MOS exams.
Students may not take both ACCT 425 and BUED 425.
