Scholarship Opportunities

Biology Scholarships

We consider scholarship awards a valuable and necessary service to provide for our students. The deadline for applying for EWU and Biology Department scholarships is February 1st of each year. To be considered, you will be asked to complete the Online Scholarship Application.

What to Except When You Apply

  1. Respond to four additional biology-related, yes/no questions.
  2. In no more than 600 words, respond to the short essay prompt: “Describe your experience with scientific research, teaching, laboratory experience, clubs/organizations and your career goals in the field.” Details for the individual scholarships are included below and maybe a helpful reference for composing the essay.
  3. Provide two letters of recommendation. The application will prompt you for the name and email address of up to three recommenders; a minimum of two are required for biology scholarship consideration. Be sure to contact your reference in advance and ask them to write a letter of support for your scholarship application. Once you submit your scholarship application, they will be sent an email prompt to submit your recommendation letter. References should be individuals who can speak to your academic and/or professional merit (faculty preferred). Ensure you give your recommenders ample time to complete this requirement before the due date.
