Scholarships

The DoD CSA (formerly the DoD Cyber Scholarship Program) is both a scholarship program for the DoD, and a capacity building tool for the nation. The program is a result of commitment from DoD and Congress to support higher education as a means to prepare the DoD workforce to deal with threats against the Department’s critical information system and networks.

There is a national shortage of cybersecurity professionals, and that shortage is compounded by the lack of diversity, equity, and inclusion of underrepresented populations. This scholarship was established as an effort to increase the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students studying Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security at Eastern Washington University. This fund will support declared Computer Science, majors, and all four years of study along with efforts to increase participation and research in the field of Computer Science. Apply through the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office by Feb.1.

This scholarship is for an undergraduate student in a Bachelor of Science degree program in the Department of Computer Science. A student must be at the sophomore, junior, or senior level, with demonstrated financial need. The student must have completed at least 45 credits at EWU and have obtained a 3.5 cumulative GPA for the most recent 45 credits attempted at EWU. Apply through the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office. The EWU Scholarship Selection Committee makes decisions on this scholarship according to the established criteria.

Students pursue studies in well-established cybersecurity programs, engage with hands-on experiences, participate in cyber competitions and pursue opportunities for professional development (e.g., earn industry certifications, and present at conferences).
