Running Start Orientation

Welcome to EWU Running Start!

Join us for an exciting on-campus orientation where you’ll discover everything you need to know about EWU Running Start. Learn how to navigate campus, find your classrooms and uncover valuable resources that will set you up for success. The event is free and guests are welcome!

To sign up, choose the orientation date that works best for you and log in using the email and password you used to apply to Running Start.

Orientation Schedule

The schedule below is tentative. We will notify all registered students when updates are made.

Orientation is 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and a light breakfast and lunch is provided. Sessions will include content for students and families to get familiar with EWU services, programs, and support for students.

Here is an outline of what to expect:

Eagle Card

In order to get your Eagle Card (your student ID card) at Orientation, visit EagleCard Online Photo Submission with eAccount and submit an EagleCard photo by August 15. If you aren’t able to complete this before August 15,  please stop by the Eagle Card Office during the first week of classes to get your EagleCard.

Location and Parking

Check-in and welcome will take place at the NCR in the Pence Union Building. View the Pence Union Building location.

Parking is available at the P-12A and P-12B lots (behind the EWU Football Stadium), and in the P-15 and P-17 parking lots.

Yes! The in-person orientation will have more information about what to expect during Running Start, as well as let you and your guests explore campus, find your classrooms, get your EWU EagleCard, and discover resources to ensure your success during Running Start.

Did you know that attending your orientation means you’re more likely to find success when you get campus? It’s true. You’ll feel more familiar with campus and know exactly where to go if you ever need help. So, while Running Start Orientation isn’t required, you have so much to gain by attending. Plus, we really want to meet with you and make sure you’re all set for the fall!

Your Eagle Card is your EWU student ID card. It gets you free STA bus rides, access to EWU library and other resources, entrance to events and the rec center, and does so much more.

To get your Eagle Card, visit EagleCard Online Photo Submission with eAccount and submit an EagleCard photo by August 15. Once your photo is submitted, please keep an eye out for responses in you Eastern Washington University email.

EagleCard Photo Requirements:

  • Photo must be against a plain, smooth background with plenty of light, no shadows.
  • No room corners, ceilings, clutter in the backgrounds, photos of previous/current IDs, photos or copies of photos, senior/yearbook photos, photos taken from the side, photos taken outdoors, or in cars.
  • Photo must be current (taken within last six months), full color, and unaltered.
  • Face the camera directly with full face in view, with ample space around your head.
  • Use a clear image of your face. Do not use filters commonly used on social media. Selfies will typically not work.
  • Have a neutral facial expression or a natural smile, with both eyes open.
  • Hat or head covering may only be worn if worn daily for religious purposes. Full face must be visible.
  • Please ensure that the uploaded image is not blurry or grainy.
  • Ensure your photo does not include the following: Sunglasses on top of head, earbuds in ears, headphones around neck or over ears.
