Laptops, cameras, projectors, iPads and hotspots are a few of the items available to EWU students through the Libraries’ Equipment Checkout Services. This service, made possible by a partnership with the Student Tech Fee Committee and Information Technology Department, is facilitated through the library accounts and borrowing system. Equipment Checkout Services provides EWU a controlled, effective management platform ensuring a steady flow of well-maintained equipment for every student in need. On average, we facilitate over 20,000 equipment loans per academic year.
With just a quick swipe of an Eagle ID card, a student may borrow items for one-day, three-day or one-week loan periods. Flexibility is the primary benefit; no longer tied down to the business hours of a computer lab or class time, students have the freedom to complete homework, research, or special projects anywhere, on or off campus.
Here are a few recent testimonies from EWU students having benefited from a service that has supported the academic needs of Eastern Washington University since 2001.
When I first heard about borrowing equipment, I was amazed, and realized how beneficial the equipment was to my studies. They gave me access to the apps & websites needed for class, and took an extra load off me for not having to worry about what I might need to have or pay for. It’s convenient and free of charge—so overall, it is very helpful. -Janaiah Moore
Currently I am not able to have a personal laptop, so I checked out from the library. I can do my assignments on time, but I wish there would be a way to check out for more than three days. -Maia Klimok
Allowed me to work on the go. Very helpful. -Jacob B.
