Greetings and happy New Year! I’m Ielleen Miller, the new director of the School of Libraries in the College of Professional Programs. While I’m new to the position of director, I’m not new to EWU, having been here since 2006. Kelly Evans, last year’s director, chose to step back to her previous role as Business & Health Sciences librarian. We thank her for her leadership.
We have some new and exciting ventures this year, including our newly dedicated diversity, equity, and inclusion resource display area, as well as our inaugural Human Library event scheduled for April. EWU librarians have designed and are offering credit classes to teach students the information skills they need to succeed in their classes, and throughout their lives. Read more about one of these courses online.
For the library to offer the best collections and services for students, we need your help.
We have a couple general funds, One is for online and print collections, and the other is for the library in general, in which we target the funds to the greatest student need. I would be more than happy to discuss with you your vision for how the library can help students, as it helped you when you were a student.
Was it a particular collection you valued, and now you’d like to see it grow? Read about recent donations aimed at growing a collection. Was it a physical space, and now you’d like to see it enhanced? Read about donors creating a special library reading nook.
I hope these examples demonstrate how you can impact current and future EWU students through a gift to the EWU Libraries.
