The Community Advisor position is a unique job experience on campus that is an incredible opportunity; students build lasting relationships, learn professional and transferable skills, and have many memorable experiences.
Community Advisors (CAs) are student employees of the Department of Housing and Residential Life and the Division of Student Affairs at Eastern Washington University (EWU) who work under the direct supervision of University Housing Staff. This position has a live on campus requirement, and therefore room and board is part of the position’s compensation package. We are still finalizing the 2023-2024 CA job description; it will be available at the upcoming information sessions.
Community Advisor Recruitment & Selection Timeline:
March 1st-9th: Information Sessions, come learn more about the Community Advisor position and application process. We require attendance in order to apply. If you are unable to attend a session please contact Isai Vela (ivela@ewu.edu) or Amber Atwood (aatwood5@ewu.edu).

March 10th: Application Opens, Apply to be a CA! The application will be available on Handshake, the university student employment website. We highly recommend working with the Career Center and/or a current Community Advisor to assist with creating an application.
April 3rd: Application Closes, This position is competitive so ensure to apply early. We will not accept late applications. If there are issues accessing the application please contact Amber Atwood, Assistant Director of Residential Life (aatwood5@ewu.edu).
April 7th: Interview Offers Sent, After our team reviews the applications we will send out interview offers. We will be emailing students via their EWU email address.
April 12th-April 18th: Interviews, We will host brief interviews and offer an opportunity for questions about the position. We highly recommend working with the Career Center to practice interviewing.
May 1st: Offers Out, The best part of it all! We will reach out to individuals and make job offers for the Community Advisor position. Students who are not receiving an offer will also be notified. If you do not hear from us, please do not hesitate to reach out.
