Hey EWU Families!
What an exciting time to have campus vibrant with the start of the Fall 2022 Quarter. As the Director of Orientation and Family Programs, it is always a pleasure to welcome our new students and their families to EWU.
As we begin the quarter, I would like to invite you to our annual Eagle Family Homecoming, which runs from Monday, October 10th- Sunday, October 16th. We have planned a week of activities for students, staff, faculty and families to participate in. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to visit with your student during the many traditions that EFH offers! My particular favorite event is The Bed Races on Thursday, October 13th.
Maybe your student is on a Bed Race team and would love to have you on the sidelines cheering them on! Or, maybe your student is an athlete and they want you in the stands! Either way, there are so many opportunities during Homecoming to cheer on your Eags- come swing by the hockey, volleyball, football or soccer games.
Your student may be new to the area and may want to explore the beautiful scenery around Cheney/Spokane. Fall colors are a delight this time of year and there are many areas to visit while you are here! You may want to consider picking some apples at Green Bluff, hike at Bowl and Pitcher, view some wildlife at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, visit the Museum of Arts and culture, or walk near the spectacular Spokane Falls at Riverfront Park.
If you’re planning to stay nearby for the weekend, make sure to check out local hotels for EWU deals!
If you find yourself hungry, don’t forget to visit local Cheney restaurants. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, Spokane has many unique and interesting places to eat!
Week Four of the quarter is a great opportunity to visit with your student, spend some quality time asking them how their time is going at EWU. We look forward to seeing you on campus this October!
GO EAGS!
