GivingTuesday Rallies Eagles to Give

Happy Holidays to our Eagle community!

Today, marks GivingTuesday, the global give-fest that happens a few days after Thanksgiving yet changes lives for so much longer.

We know there are a lot of great causes out there, but we think that helping students at Eastern Washington University earn a brighter future is one of the best. Today, we are asking you to make a gift to support the university’s transformational work.

EWU makes a lifelong impact for students of all means and backgrounds – providing an education that positions graduates to succeed as professionals and make a difference in their communities.

Future difference makers attending EWU include Hailey Arland and Alex Moomaw, two students who work part-time jobs and are grateful for scholarships that help fill financial gaps.

At a time when computer hackers are holding society hostage, Moomaw, 25, plans to design code that fends off cyber attackers. Moomaw, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, was awarded the Steiner Family Endowed Scholarship, among other awards. He’s a year from earning dual bachelor’s degrees – and becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college.

Hailey, 22, a second-generation Eagle, plans to become a speech language pathologist working with children who struggle to communicate. But juggling master’s level classes with a work schedule is tough. Receiving the Kathy (Iverson) Privratsky Honorary Endowed Scholarship has allowed Alrand to reduce work hours and focus on preparing for a career that changes lives.
