The Benefits of Getting Involved on Campus

Learn about EWU Clubs & Organizations; Upcoming Events!

January 16, 2025

When you think of home, what do you think of? Is it a place? A smell? A feeling? The people? For many of us, it is all of the above. When I think about home, I think about a small town settled deep in the piney woods with wild jasmine and magnolias blooming in the spring and laughing with my friends as we walked to class or to our latest club meeting. As I walk through campus here at EWU, listening to students chatter with one another and watching the squirrels scurry many of those same memories pour back into my mind and take me back to my own college days. Suddenly, a quarter century and 2,000 miles doesn’t seem so very far away. Isn’t that what college is about, though? The experience. You can go anywhere and get an education. You can learn online. There is a reason you are at Eastern. It’s the bouncing ideas off one another and connecting with others who are more like, and more different, from you than you than you could ever imagine. It is the culmination of these experiences, these people, that makes this campus such an amazing place.

At Eastern, we have over 130 student-led, student-run clubs and organizations that allow students to network with one another and develop their leadership skills. These organizations provide a support system for students while they are at EWU and allow them to develop connections they will take with them throughout their lifetime. In Student Engagement, we are very deeply invested in students’ needs to develop holistically as individuals, as well as leaders, which is why we offer the EagLead Series, as well as Clubs and Orgs Trainings, to our student organizations. Clubs and Orgs Trainings are focused on running a student organization and developing skills needed to succeed in specific areas within those roles. The EagLead Series is a broader keynote/workshop-based approach focusing on developing students as leaders in today’s world. Below are the available Clubs and Orgs and EagLead sessions for Winter 2025 and Spring 2025:

These stressors impact your well-being, your team, and your organization and community.
